Why would any person work at McDonalds?
I have chosen this topic as my primary text because I have had the opportunity to work there. I worked for McDonald’s last year for two months. McDonald was a job that I found during desperate needs. It was hard for me to find any job during my first year here in the U.S. While I was working, I had a chance to observe the working environment and the customers. From my personal experience, I can explain why any person would work at McDonalds. Most of the people who work at McDonald at the time when I was working were high school graduate or high school drop outs. Many adults who do not further their education by going to college tends to end up working at McDonalds or any other fast food restaurants. However, some management positions at McDonald’s or any fast food restaurants require high school diploma or college degree. Some adults who have been with McDonald’s for a very long time do not want to leave their current position to find another job because their pay rate has gone up for them. Majority of the employees are foreigners who migrated to the U.S. for better life. Most foreigners come to the U.S. where they cannot afford to go to school. Since they have many responsibilities that they have to accomplish, foreign adults jump into whatever job that is available to them. Others who are born and raised here and work at McDonald’s are those who did not take advantage of the opportunities that is available to them as far as education or they may have made wrong choices that jeopardized their financial, social, and individual status.
