The primary source is an article called “China, U.S. teach each other some lessons” written by Mitchell Landsberg in the Los Angeles Times on the April 08,2007. (http://articles.latimes.com/2007/apr/08/world/fg-school8)
It talks about the difference between Chinese and American education and explains the advantage and disadvantage of each education by interviewing some Chinese teachers and scholars. In this article, it also discussed that the educators in the United States want to learn the Chinese teaching method in Math and science. On the other hand, the government of China hope students can learn how to divergent thinking and have more innovative ideals. "In many ways, China and the United States represent the Yin and Yang of international education." Although these two education look like complementary, actually they can't integrate into the society because different core ideas between American and Chinese education. In the United States, it pays more attention to the students' feelings and makes students to excite their imaginations and inspire their minds. But for Chinese students, parents and teachers always regard the grades as the most important thing and parents hope their children to get the best high school or best universities. In my experience, maybe Chinese education teaches students as “exam machines”. So, I think it is the reason why more and more Chinese students choose to study aboard and do the things they really want to do instead of staying at school for 12 hours a day, taking continual classes, and doing excessive homework.

One of the things you did not explain is the difference in teaching methodology. Do you think teaching technique is better in China or here in USA? What I do think is that most internationally known universities are in the USA. The most known innovative scientists are from those universities. I believe that the U.S. educational system is ranked high up to date, but in our time they many countries are in the foot step of U.S. Personally, I believe U.S. has many opportunities where you can exercise your innovative
